About Us

In 2018, we were daydreaming about a gap year. In 2019, we landed remote jobs instead, and hit the road with our dog, Lincoln. Over the next five years, we road-tripped across the U.S. for months at a time.

There was a summer in the Rockies, a fall in New England, a year on the road, a long loop through the Red Rocks, 21 days in Alaska, and four seasons in Yellowstone. We spent Halloween night in Salem, tackled Angel’s Landing in Zion, camped with bears in Katmai, and found more than a few homes away from home.

After thousands of miles and dozens of states and national parks, one thing became clear: there’s so much to see stateside. That’s why we started Road Trip Locals to help others hit the road and make the most of every mile.

Cozy Yellowstone Cabins

Yellowstone is a big park. We’re here to help it feel manageable.

After years of visiting Yellowstone in every season, we planted roots in Gardiner, Montana, just one mile from the park’s North Entrance. Now, we offer an All-Seasons Guide and Cozy Cabins for travelers who want a comfortable, well-located home base to explore.

Stays with us come with something extra: the same Yellowstone knowledge we share in our guide, baked right into your trip.
